Never Quit Dreaming
Role: Assistant Director, Graphic Designer, Photographer and Videographer
Overview: Never Quit Dreaming is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of special needs children in Hawaii by offering recreational activities and unique experiences. My friend, Kris Dung, founded this organization with a profound vision of building a community for parents and families facing the challenge of limited sports opportunities for their children with special needs. Over the past decade, we've successfully introduced seasonal sports programs, such as baseball, soccer, and basketball, to empower and engage these exceptional youth.
Social Media
I specialize in crafting engaging digital content for our events, primarily distributed through Instagram and Facebook. Our strategy for broadening our reach involves utilizing paid promotions and establishing a well-planned communication schedule with parents to ensure maximum visibility. Please take a moment to explore these ads I've designed – they serve as excellent examples of how to create impactful posts that capture attention effectively.
Team Memorabilia
With every new sports season, we introduce a unique branded logo for each team, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among the children. This practice serves as an excellent foundation for teaching valuable lessons about teamwork and the importance of playing together as a unified unit. Over the seasons, we've actively involved families in the creative process, soliciting their ideas for custom jersey designs. Children often possess remarkable imaginations, and we make every effort to accommodate their wishes. As a token of appreciation, each participant receives a keepsake item, ranging from baseball cards and embroidered gloves to custom jerseys and team photo packages.
Video Highlights
We're dedicated to encapsulating the key moments of each sport, serving as a valuable tool for both program improvement and future planning. These videos often accompany our annual report, offering our current donors and supportive families a comprehensive view of our accomplishments throughout the year. Kris Dung plays a pivotal role in orchestrating all these intricate elements, and I contribute by providing support in design, photography, and videography to ensure our mission thrives.
YMCA of Honolulu
Role: Graphic Designer and Marketing Assistant
Overview: The Y is a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. I've been fortunate to collaborate closely with the Vice President of Marketing in breathing life into their marketing materials and initiatives.
Program Materials
The Y orchestrates a variety of youth camp events in Hawaii throughout the year. My typical role involves engaging with stakeholders to brainstorm themes and subsequently crafting a cohesive visual identity for each program, extending from social media advertisements to printed materials.
COVID-19 Pandemic Materials
When the YMCA invited me to temporarily join their team in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I viewed it as the perfect opportunity to give back and offer assistance. We began by installing informative signs throughout our gym, ensuring people were well-prepared for emergencies or disasters. Additionally, we established comprehensive stock libraries to support the creation of new images for various purposes.
Salvation Army Hawaii
Role: Graphic Designer
Overview: I've had the privilege of collaborating with the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands division of the Salvation Army. Their Impact Report serves as a comprehensive overview of their annual achievements, and my role in designing it has a profound impact in raising awareness and garnering support for their vital programs and services. It's incredibly rewarding to utilize my design skills for such a positive cause.
Pacific Historic Parks
Role: Graphic Designer and Webmaster
Overview: Pacific Historic Parks stands as the foremost organization dedicated to preserving crucial historical sites in the Pacific for the benefit of future generations. I played a pivotal role in completely overhauling their website, starting from the ground up. Additionally, I regularly design their quarterly donation newsletter, contributing to the continued success of their mission.
Website
Our task was to revamp the website of Pacific Historic Parks, striking a balance between contemporary design elements and the preservation of its traditional aesthetic. The goal was to retain the appeal of current donors while also engaging a younger demographic. You can explore the website at www.pacifichistoricparks.org
(Please note that website design may have evolved as company management continues to update it).
Newsletters
Pacific Historic Parks releases a quarterly newsletter with the primary aim of sharing stories with their donors to underscore the significance of their continued support. Print format plays a pivotal role in this medium as their target demographic appreciates tangible mail pieces. If you'd like to explore the entire magazine, please click below.
